Owner
Matt Walker
Matt is the owner and founder of Powder River Construction (PRC) that started in 2004. Prior to founding Powder River Construction, Matt worked extensively as a heavy equipment mechanic in the oilfield and as the Shop Superintendent for Cundy Asphalt & Paving and Inter-Mountain Construction for over 20 years.
Matt has served on the City of Gillette Public Works, Utilities Advisory Board, Concrete Association of Wyoming (CAW) as president. As well as the Northeast Wyoming Contractors Association (NEWCA) as president. He was also received the Wyoming Contractors Association Mechanic of the year award. Matt has a practical, through in-depth understanding of how-to setup and run a successful maintenance shop as well as a successful and diverse construction company.
PROJECT TEAM
Concrete Superintendant
Lance Walker
Lance has worked with Powder River Construction (PRC) for the past 14 years. He has worked in almost every capacity of concrete construction and currently develops, schedules and manages projects for PRC. Lance has overseen several substantial paving projects with multiple stakeholders from the Federal Aviation Administration to local municipalities from runways to preventive street maintenance projects. He has a strong understanding of government projects. He has successfully completed several concrete trainings from Wirtgen and Gomaco. Lance currently serves on the Campbell County Building Code Appeals Board. He has also served on the North Eastern Wyoming Contractors Association and strengthened the Northeast Wyoming Contractors Association’s High School Scholarship Program. Lance is also the current president of the Wyoming Sportsman Group (WSG).
Maintenance Superintendent
Mike Gross
Mike has worked on heavy equipment for 25 plus years. He is the maintenance superintendent for Powder River Construction since 2010. Mike worked for Titan Machinery, a Case Equipment Dealer, for 15 years as the lead mechanic, Service and Operations manager. Mike is well versed in setting up and running a maintenance shop with over 125 pieces of construction equipment.
Building Superintendent
Kim Essen
Kim is currently a building superintendent with Powder River Construction. He has worked in construction his entire career of 28 plus years. He has worked in every aspect of construction from earthwork, concrete, structural framing, iron work, and electrical. Kim worked concrete on Denver International Airport as well as 30 plus custom homes and commercial projects. Kim graduated from TIC’s foreman school and has supervised large crews and sub-contractors on multiple projects. Kim has been selected as the Northeast Wyoming Contractor Association’s Craftsman of the Year award winner 3 times.
PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT
Micky Shober
Micky is currently a Project Superintendent for Powder River Construction. Micky has owned and operated earth moving, residential and commercial building companies for over 45 years. He has significant understanding of working on design-build projects both in government, commercial and residential settings. He served 10 years on the Campbell County School Board, 8 years as Campbell County Commissioner and served with distinction on numerous boards and won several awards for service.
